Immune Boosting Tips from an Integrative Perspective
How to Stay Healthy and Encourage Lifelong Wellness

There has been no greater stage for discussions on health and disease than the year 2020. Our daily thoughts have been consumed for months about an illness and the potential threats and fear surrounding contracting the novelty virus. One thing that we have encouraged patients with over and over, is that one thing you do have control over is how well you are preparing and maintaining the host for the potential threat. This is not to discredit the fact that even healthy, proactive people can get sick and have responses that we can’t project.
But here are three tips to help keep your body functioning as optimal as possible:
Creating a regular routine and an ideal sleep space is critical for health. Make sure you are getting 7-8 hours of sleep, in a dark space with minimal distractions (lights/noise/etc.)
Nourish your body with foods that are not going to increase inflammation and congestion in your body, which in turn slow down the healing process and inhibit the body’s ability to fight off disease.
As the seasons change, make sure you are getting appropriate intake of vitamins that are known to keep your immune system working it’s best. At a minimum, a pharmaceutical grade multi-vitamin, Vitamins D and C and healthy omegas/fats should be consumed daily. Vitamin A and zinc are good things to consider adding/increasing when symptoms arise.
Keeping your body nourished is just as important as keeping your mind healthy. Take small steps toward some of the goals listed above – choose one area to focus on per week for the next month, write down your goal, and celebrate your wins! Be encouraged that you have choices and a lot of control over those choices. Be hopeful and be well!
